CLGK NEWS

We had a beautiful day for our 2022 Season Finale! Tadas and Rytas Kleiza won first place in the Male/Male division and Paul and Aldona Urba won first place in the Male/Female division. For full results check out the Tour Results link.

After golf we had a cocktail hour and Oktoberfest Dinner Buffet, followed by our awards ceremony and raffle. A fun time was had by all!

At the awards ceremony our club champions received their traveling trophies: Tom Vaitkus (Men's A), Drake Reid (Men's B), Joe Janickas (Men's C), Ruta Rasutis (Women's A) and Aldona Urba (Women's B).

After a heated race for Male Golfer of the Year, Tadas Kleiza came from behind and won this award. Ruta Rasutis dominated the Female Golfer of the Year.

The Most Improved Golfer was Ed Dumblauskas.

Finally, the closest to the pin lottery winners were Linas Cepele and Aldona Urba.

President Bob Raudys announced that the 2022 Valdyba will be returning for 2023.

We wish everyone a great "off season" and great holidays. We look forward to seeing all of you next season starting in early May. We could use some additional members, so we encourage you to recruit fellow golfers that would enjoy the CLGK experience. Thanks!

SALFASS 2022 RESULTS

SALFASS 2022 was a great success, with fun had by all. Miraculously, only the final two groups on Sunday were affected by rain, even though the forecast was predicting rain all weekend. The competition and camaraderie were great.

Team Green won the Championship with 38.5 points, receiving first place medals and cash awards, with Team Red finishing second with 29 points, receiving 2nd place medals. Match results are posted in the SALFASS RESULTS link on this web page.

Rai Cepele won the putting contest, while Rytas Kleiza won the chipping contest after Saturday's round. The proximity winners and long drive winners can be found on the SALFASS RESULTS page.

We had a total of 34 players (17 CLGK, 10 non CLGK members from Chicagoland, 5 from Toronto, 2 from Florida, and 1 from Cleveland).

At the awards banquet on Sunday our Canadian friends said that they were considering having next years SALFASS.

Handicaps

As of January 1, 2020, the USGA has moved to the World Handicap System. There are problems with the system in terms of cost, complexity and implementation. The Valdyba has decided to continue with the our old system going forward. In other words, you wont see any changes in how your handicap index and course handicaps will be computed. The only difference is that the handicap indices are no longer approved by the United States Golf Association. The CLGK Handicap Index will be converted to a course handicap and used in the net competition tournaments that we conduct. We will post all tournament scores, but in order for your CLGK golf index to be valid, it is required that all of your golf scores, with name of course, tee used, adjusted score with course rating and slope, be posted. You can do this by texting Arunas Dagys, or sending this information by e-mail at ArunasD@sbcglobal.net Directions for adjusting the golf score, as well as the current golf indexes/handicaps for all club members, are available by visiting the club's web site. You may view any members handicap record for the entire year by clicking on the Handicap Records link.
